May Offer – Leg vein treatment – Sclerotherapy + Nd:YAG Laser
By combining Sclerotherapy with Nd:YAG, our doctors are able to treat and visibly improve the appearance of most, if not all, visible leg veins.
How does Sclerotherapy work?
Sclerotherapy treats veins that are twisted and enlarged, knowns as varicose veins. Varicose veins are usually in the legs. Sclerotherapy also treats spider veins, a mild form of varicose veins. In the Adare clinic, we treat veins up to 3mm in size. For veins that are larger than this we would usually refer to a vascular surgeon.
Sclerotherapy involves using a needle to put a solution into the veins. The sclerotherapy solution causes the vein to scar. The scarring forces blood through healthier veins. The collapsed vein then fades over time.
How does Nd:YAG Laser work?
If you have red, purple or blue veins less than a 3mm diameter on your legs, then our Cutera Nd- yag laser can successfully treat them. The light energy emitted by the Nd-YAG laser penetrates the skin, penetrating the bloods vessels or spider veins. The energy generates heat, coagulating the blood within the vein, causing it to collapse and sealing it closed. The blood is rerouted to deeper blood vessels, and the damaged vein slowly disappears as the body sheds the cells naturally.
